To those who are missing the BURN

Opulent Temple 2007
While the man may have some of us in its grips, for others we can just reminense and subcounciously catch the vibes that are undoubtely flowing from Black Rock City, NV where the annual Burning Man festival is held. It is an experience of a life time and no one says it differnent. The people, Art, Music, and culture attracts all walks of life from the google execs./owners(read their blog) all the way down to the hippy homeless roadsters, and of course its routes in outlaw bikers. While not everyone can attend the energry doesnt stop there, it will continue throughout the country and cosmos. Like a wave post burning man De-Compression events will scatter all over the country while attendees flock back to their regular or irregualr lives. Look closely as this is all walks of life and non-discriminatory.

With that said let us reminice is the glory of last years music. This one is from one of my favorite groups/camps out there Opulent Temple from the man who pretty much makes it all happen, Syd gris(http://www.opulenttemple.org/)

I had the pleasure of hearing live and hanging with him back stage at their NYC Opulent Temple fundraiser at public assembly in brooklyn. So check out his opening set at last years burning man and feel the incredibly massive vibes put forth from a tiny place in the middle of nevada desert:

Thank You!

Many thanks to all who came out for and helped out with the MayDay event, it went off! We never could have done it without the help of so many great people! Special thanks to Rob Rewind Events, Jack Productions, NYCRavers, Dr. Shamus, Sam Black, Art Battles, Mr. Photog, Matt Siegel, Dr. Light and all of the performers listed below!

What was beautiful about this party was the fusion of so many Underground factions that are naturally compatible around a great cause. The Burning Man Community, NYCRavers, Mixed Bag Productions, Art & Dance crews, Drum n’ Bass heads, Shpongloids, our extended family, and the networks of everyone involved!

Pictures will be up soon, as well as an exact total we’ll be donating to the Hollis fund!

Stay tuned for more events and mixes, coming soon..

Call to action

“I AM NOT OK” is a call to action. It’s about not being content with anything that you are doing or anything that you have done. Each of us can do more — for ourselves and each other. There’s no time to “take it easy”. It’s not about being greedy, but it is about wanting more for yourself (there is a difference). It’s about pushing the limits (numbers and people) — as far as they can go. I AM NOT OK. -Joe Nice(Dubwar)

The party also has a greater meaning, it is a benefit for Hollis Hawthorne. Hollis is an incredible, innovative artist, dancer and Burning Man worker who was hit by a bus on February 28th while riding a motorbike in India. She has been in a coma ever since, and her friends and the Burning Man community have raised over $100,000 to transport her back to the states and for medical expenses.

She seems to be improving slowly and is opening her eyes, responding to stimuli, making verbal noises and moving fingers and toes on command. She is currently at St. Luke’s hospital in San Francisco and the goal is to raise $200,000 for her complete rehabilitation and care. All proceeds from the event will go toward this fund.

The story has completely captivated us as we’ve learned of the beauty of this person and about the incredible response from her friends and the entire tribe. It is a moving testament to this great woman and the huge, powerful family that she is a part of.
