To those who are missing the BURN

While the man may have some of us in its grips, for others we can just reminense and subcounciously catch the vibes that are undoubtely flowing from Black Rock City, NV where the annual Burning Man festival is held. It is an experience of a life time and no one says it differnent. The people, Art, Music, and culture attracts all walks of life from the google execs./owners(read their blog) all the way down to the hippy homeless roadsters, and of course its routes in outlaw bikers. While not everyone can attend the energry doesnt stop there, it will continue throughout the country and cosmos. Like a wave post burning man De-Compression events will scatter all over the country while attendees flock back to their regular or irregualr lives. Look closely as this is all walks of life and non-discriminatory.

With that said let us reminice is the glory of last years music. This one is from one of my favorite groups/camps out there Opulent Temple from the man who pretty much makes it all happen, Syd gris(http://www.opulenttemple.org/)

I had the pleasure of hearing live and hanging with him back stage at their NYC Opulent Temple fundraiser at public assembly in brooklyn. So check out his opening set at last years burning man and feel the incredibly massive vibes put forth from a tiny place in the middle of nevada desert:

Ok listen i’ve never been one to safeguard musik collections to themselves, i believe sharing makes the world spin much smoother….why else would you read this or be on the blog. However, even I was apprehensive about posting this mix up. Not only is it one of my favorite mixes(live sets) ever, but also perfect example of some of the things i love to shoot for in production, always want to hear more of in the scene, and sometimes literally sample for my own use as well(SHHH.) Hallucinogen’s stuff would lend itself well to dub – and this proves you right.

It’s a dub circus with flecks of the original souping in and out, and the effect is truly psychedelic. Spiritual Antiseptic uses the original’s cutup vocals with a more traditional dub arrangement – melodica, clattering drums, and reverb to hell and back.
Twisting and turning, the way the main LSD melody surfaces is pure sonic poetry, and certainly gets those brain chemicals flowing.
This is an absolute triumph – it’s original, it’s brave, and the sounds are truly transporting making this a release that truly deserves the ‘psychedelic’ tag.”

shuttle – the Vostok 1 mix-tape

SSSSSsssssssSSSoooooooooo this Dj that used that used to be named ‘etan’ and I realized that me nob and some others chilled with this dood(and toby who booked him or something) at Le Royale in NYC after his set and got a little slopping Due to legal reasons, Etan has had to change his name to Shuttle. To commemorate this turn of events, he’s put together a pretty eclectic mix including a few of his own tracks and remixes. I’ve been listening/ipodfacialing this mix for a few now, having no idea who it was or where i got it from cause of the name change, etc. Well finally looked em up. This mix is a pretty good banger and a great example for electro Breakbeat, Drum n Bass, Ambient and some indie even mixed in. shuttle has definitely got skills.
